Rachel Quinn [Rachel Quinn Ceramics]
Description / Biog

I am a designer and maker of a range of handbuilt ceramic pieces which are Raku Fired. I have a fine art background and I studied painting and ceramics and I worked in the ceramics industry for 6 years where I learned the skills necessary to set up my own studio, which is set at the foot of the Ox mountains in County Sligo. I supply to 25 shops and have also set up a craft gallery beside my studio where I retail my work and others also. I draw my inspiration from the very hills that surrond my studio. I will have a new range for 2006 called ''''Artefacts''''. I am also starting on a body of work for exhibition in the Cat & Moon. The colours I use for my work are achieved using and ancient Japenese art form called "RAKU" meaning happiness through chance. The results are never predictable meaning no two piecies are ever exactly the same. The results are beautiful metalic colours crazed glazes and earthy smoked body.
