Description / Biog
I design and create individual felt works, scarves, hats, coats etc. I use soft luxurious wool, like merino or corridale and add some silk, mohair and other decorative fiber to create a vibrant surface. I work in the community and teach the art and craft of felt making. I design and create individual large scale wall pieces for private homes.
I was born in Hungary in 1970 and now live and work in Co. Leitrim. I have worked with felt making since I was 15 but only set up my own business in 2001. I also create a series of art works and installation pieces, which can be viewed in different galleries throughout Ireland.
Some publicity for my work were articles and features in the following: 2004, Irish Art Review, "Design Portfolio"; 2005, Room, "Design Room"; 2006, The Irish Times; 2006, selection for The Craft Council of Ireland collectors events; The Hunt Muesum and The National Craft Gallery; 2006, selection for the Botanical Gardens and choosen for the Art residency in Finland December 2006.
My inspiration comes from the texture and the colour of the wool. I love creating vivid contrast between colours, shapes and forms to go completely the opposite way and use only natural colours with a minimalist design. I have a new collection for 2006, aswell as doing private commissions. My scarves, hats, cushions and throws are available in a variety of colour combinations.
