Description / Biog
In 1989, I began to teach people how to design their own homes ina course entitled 'Be You Own Architect'. The response to this was immediate and positive and led to my involvement in numerous self-build projects initiated by Course students. The involvement uncovered many of the hidden aspects of house design, particularly the deep psychological impact of personal sheltermaking.
The 'Be Your Own Architect Course' has not developed into the Course in Sustainable House Design & Construction. This 16 year evolution has revealed house design to be the articulation of who we are and where we are going. This journey, while challenging, is deeply personal, human, life-affirming, liberating and satisfying, allowing for the creation of a living architecture that nurtures all life.
LIVE and distant-learning options are available for following the Course. Information is supplied on CD_ROM and consists of The Handbook of House Design & Construction, a step-by-step Design Programme and supporting Worksheets. This sheltermaking information amounts to almost 700 A4 pages. Personal tutorial support is an in-built part of each course.
