Martin Doyle [Crutu]
Description / Biog

Recently relocated to Carrigallen in County Leitrim, Ireland, Crutu produces a unique portfolio of sculptures directly influenced by Celtic Mythology and Equine life form.

Artist Martin Doyle has received critical acclaim for his creations and has built up a varied and geographically disperse clientele for these unique pieces.

The Celtic collection is strangely mesmerising and effectively integrates Irish Heritage of Mythology into contemporary art.

The first stage of the artistic process is undertaken in clay - this is where the creation takes shape, from the laying down of an armiture to support the structure of the piece, to formation of the initial raw shape. This is when the inspiration of the artist takes hold to create a living sculpture of the subject. It then has to undergo the mould making process which is a layer of silicone skin to be then suported by a fibreglass shell. When this stage is complete, the original clay model can be disposed of leaving the completed mould.
The casting is done by a process of using a stone based of 241 monomix and quality Irish Shale and Granite to form the finished piece which is suitable for interior or exterior display.
