Description / Biog
Founded in 1989 by jewellery designer Martina Gillan The Cat & The Moon is named after the evocative 1929 play by Irish Noble laureate W.B. Yeats. At our address No. 4 Castle Street, Sligo we design and handcraft our collections of silver and gold jewellery. Our craft boutique and art gallery host an innvative selection from artists based in Ireland.
“ A sensitivity to nature and in particular the Sligo landscape provides an endless source of creativity to feed into the designs of my jewellery”.
The Craft Boutique showcases the definitive collection of Irish jewellery, fine art and crafts. In addition to our own brand, designers including Alan Ardiff, Colm de Ris and Louise Kennedy exhibit alongside new innovative talents. . We are always mindful that quality of design and craftsmanship is key to the established reputation of The Cat & The Moon.
Opening hours: Monday – Saturday 9-6pm, Sunday 2-5pm
Our Goldsmith’s Studio Collectors of our jewellery in Sligo have enjoyed our personal touch for special occasions in their lives –birthdays, christenings, communions, engagements, weddings and anniversaries.We design and create unique commissioned pieces for private and corporate customers.
The Art Gallery hosts monthly exhibitions of fine art promoting local and internationally known artists.We stock an extensive collection of fine art prints, photography, paintings and sculpture throughout the year which can be viewed by appointment. The Gallery also provide a framework service. The calendar of events in the Gallery can be viewed on line via our web site www.thecatandthemoon.All exhibitions are open to the public, entrance to the Gallery is through the shop, no admission charge.
