SOURCE LAUNCH AUTUMN 2006 INNOVATIVE TRAINING SCHEDULE

September 2006

The ‘SOURCE - Developing Rural Creativity’ programme recently launched its Autumn 2006 programme of development courses and workshops as part of its cross-border initiative to generate growth in the creative industries sector. The sessions will be hosted in Counties Leitrim, Fermanagh and Sligo but are open to participants from all bordering Counties.

If you’ve ever considered starting your own business in the creative sector or would like to improve and develop your company, then you’ve come to the perfect place! Our Creative Business courses (Art of Start and Step Up) are specially designed to offer help and support to all start-up and established businesses in this area. The Art of Start commences in Sligo on the 13th Sept and Step Up in Leitrim on the 6th September.

‘Get Your Spark Back’ is a series of one-day workshops focusing on different areas of your business, professional and personal development. These are not your ‘run of the mill’ business workshops, and aim to help you re-find your creative spark, rejuvenate your passion, and blast some fresh air through your business. The workshops start on the 14th September and are running in all 3 counties.

‘Fashion the Future’ (Sligo, 20th & 21st Sept) is a two-day workshop looking at two key areas of innovative design. If you are involved in creating, designing, developing and selling design-led products, then this workshop will provide a one-stop shop of becoming more innovative and individual. The ‘Trend Forecasting’ workshop is a fascinating and exciting opportunity to learn about the way that international catwalk trends can impact on local design businesses. As well as considering fashion and colour trends for creative products, this Trends Forecast workshop will also consider lifestyle, spending, sociological, technical and other consumer trends. The Trend Forecasting workshops start in September and run in all 3 counties.

The ‘Perform beyond Expectation’ workshops use an exciting and innovative theatre-based technique to improve performance in areas like selling and presentation skills. Using interactive techniques to engage and involve, actors and writers bring typical business scenarios to life. Theatre based methods like storytelling, forum theatre, rehearsal and experiential games and exercises are challenging for most yet become hugely empowering for all who are ready and willing to participate. The workshops will be run in Sligo and start on the 25th September.

SOURCE are also offering courses in Standard and Advanced Digital Photography as well as a series of one-off workshops covering areas of Finance (taxation), Photography, Approaching galleries, Production Management in the Theatre and others.
